The Challenge
Most doorways are just standard squares, which can look a bit plain in a custom home. For this house, the owners wanted to turn a regular opening into a smooth arch to give the rooms more character. The trick with arches is getting the curve perfectly even; if it’s off even a little bit, you’ll see it every time you walk through the door.
The Craftsmanship
We started by framing out the arch with a perfectly balanced curve. We used flexible drywall and special finishing techniques to get a smooth transition from the walls into the arch. This kind of work takes a lot of careful mudding and sanding to make sure there are no flat spots or bumps. We made sure the whole surface was perfectly smooth so it looks like it was built right into the structure of the house.
The Result
The new arched doorway gives the home a much more finished, custom look. It’s a small change that makes a big difference in how the rooms feel. By taking the time to get the curve and the finish exactly right, we gave the family a design feature that looks great and will stay smooth for years.
