Custom Deck Stairs

The Challenge

Deck stairs are one of the most important parts of any outdoor build. In Central New Jersey, many older decks have stairs that are uneven or wobbly, which makes them a safety risk. For this project, we needed to build a set of stairs that were rock-solid and easy to walk on. Our goal was to make sure every step was exactly the same height and depth, following all local building codes for safety and stability.

The Craftsmanship

We started by calculating the exact rise and run for every step so that walking up or down feels natural. We cut the stringers from high-grade, pressure-treated wood and reinforced them with heavy-duty hardware to make sure there is no “bounce” when you step on them. We used quality decking for the treads to create a slip-resistant surface that can handle New Jersey’s weather. We also poured solid concrete footings and bolted the handrails securely into the frame for maximum stability.

The Result

The new stairs are a solid example of what good carpentry can do for a home. They provide a safe and comfortable way to get from the deck to the yard. These stairs are built to stay level and firm even after years of heavy use. This project shows how a well-built set of stairs can make the whole deck feel more secure.
