The Challenge
The family wanted to use their deck more often, even when it was too sunny or starting to rain. A regular pergola looks good but doesn’t actually block the rain or provide enough shade in the middle of the day. We needed to build a deck and an overhead structure that gave them control over the sun and weather while still looking like a natural part of their home.
The Craftsmanship
We built a custom deck and a louvered pergola system with adjustable slats. These slats can be opened to let the sun through or closed completely to block out the rain and create deep shade. We had to make sure the deck frame was extra strong to support the weight of the pergola and that everything was perfectly level so the louver parts would work smoothly. We used high-grade, weather-resistant materials for the whole build to make sure it lasts through the New Jersey winters.
The Result
The finished project gives the family an outdoor room they can use almost any time of year. By adding the adjustable roof, we turned a standard deck into a much more useful space. It’s a solid, well-built structure that offers a lot of flexibility for entertaining or just relaxing outside, no matter what the weather is doing.
